Hi!

People ask me quite often for Summer reading recommendations, so I hope that these blog tours are helping to build your Summer TBR pile! I'm always delighted to be asked to take part, so hopefully you get some good reading inspiration from them.

This was one of my most favourite recent reads, it's the fifth novel from Claire Douglas - Then She Vanishes

Heather and Jess were best friends - until the fair came to town and Heather's sister Flora vanished. Jess has never forgiven herself for the part she played - nor has Heather.
But now Heather is accused of a terrible crime, and Jess has to return to the town she grew up in to ask some very uncomfortable questions.
What really happened the night Flora disappeared?

Jess is a fantastic main character. She's a real, fleshed-out person with a back story, a personality (I know that's an obvious thing to point out but sometimes I really can't connect to characters). We know what drives her, we know why she is the way she is, and we know what her end goal is.

I loved the addition of the newspaper cuttings littered throughout the book - it added another layer to the story and made me feel like I really was following a true crime case. This is not a fast, action packed thriller (although it opens with, quite literally, a bang) - it's a deliciously slow, meandering tale that builds up into a thoroughly satisfying conclusion.

It's the thriller of the Summer so far for me - I would highly recommend it if you like thriller/mystery/crime stories and are seeking something to bring on holiday or curl up with on the next Bank Holiday weekend (or, y'know, a random Thursday).

Then She Vanishes is available wherever books are sold (the eBook is available now, the paperback will be released on August 8th so you'll be able to request it from your local library from then on) and also at:

It's also available on Audible at a reduced price when you buy the eBook for Kindle - audio books are a great way of getting some more reading time in when you don't really have the time to sit down and focus on a story.

Thank you to Sriya and all at Penguin Random House for allowing me to read the book early and be a part of the blog tour. You can see what others have to say about Then She Vanishes by visiting the other stops on the tour:
