Hi!
This week for Twinsie Tuesday, we were asked to do a mani based on our favourite movie. I find it hard to pick a favourite, but there's one movie that I refuse to throw out on video (even though I own it on DVD and have no way of playing videos anymore) and will watch religiously every time it's on telly, PLUS I have youtubed several scenes from it hundreds of times.
I love everything about Dirty Dancing - the soundtrack, the plot, the cast, the dancing, the clothes - I just adore it. I wanted to do a simple mani based on the delicate pink of Baby's dress and the black leather jacket that Johnny wears. I did toy with the idea of doing Watermelon nails but I'm really bad at them.
I used Rimmel's Ring a Ring O' Roses, a baby pink, on the lower half of my nail, Cake Pop from the CND Vinylux line on the top half, then went over the whole lot with a coat of an OPI sheer frosted pink polish that has no name on the bottle because it's a miniature - possibly from the Nice Stems miniatures. I used a plain black polish on the ring finger and stamped the zip using Barry M Silver. I wish the zip had come out clearer! I added the little flower gems just to give it a more delicate, light feel.
I'm not even sure if I like it or not - my original idea was to round off Halloween in spectacular fashion by attempting Hocus Pocus nails but we've all been so sick this week that I just couldn't face detailed art. I do love how this group has made me want to paint my nails regularly again and attempt art of some sort - I love how it makes us think about the theme every week!

ReplyDeleteI've never seen this movie, lol. But I like your manicure!! The zipper is so cute!
ReplyDeleteCute! Perfect for Dirty Dancing. I need to get back into doing my nails, they're so weak and broken at the moment :(
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteI love your inspo and mani!
ReplyDeleteLove these, Sharon!
ReplyDelete*whispers* I've never seen Dirty Dancing. It's on TV3 at least once a month and I always manage to miss it. One of these days I'll get around to it!
I totally agree with you that this group really pushes us to do something. I have been going through one of the busiest times of my life and if it weren't for twinsie tuesday, i would not post anything for about 1 or two months :/
ReplyDeleteYour nail art is very cute :)
Apparently this was the first movie I ever was able to watch as an toddler and not crawl off too..or so says my mother. I was one, so I have no recollection. Adorable mani though!
ReplyDeleteI like the inspiration here :) I really like the zipper nail even if it's not as visible as you wanted it to be
ReplyDeleteDirty Dancing is such a great movie!
ReplyDeleteThese look really lovely!! I love the contrast between the soft pink nails and the accent nail!
ReplyDeleteThose are brilliant - the leather jacket nail is the bomb!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love the contrast of the zipper nail and the flower. I usually just watch the dancing scenes.
ReplyDeleteDeadly. I much prefer this to watermelon nails. The pink is exquisite xx Siobhan
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like the contrast between dark/menacing (him) and light/delicate (her). I can't for the life of me remember if I've seen this film or not. I know lots about it, so perhaps I have, but I know I didn't see it at the cinema (I was about 20). The old memory is failing me!
ReplyDeleteThis is genius, I love it! Love Dirty Dancing - it's my favourite movie of all time x
