When I say "rainbow nails", I'm not talking about this:
Christ almighty. Did you ever look back on some of your earlier blog pictures and want to cry?
Anyway - I read an article recently on SELF website that talked about another nail trend on the way from Korea. The whole article is here, but basically the trend is to pick three or four nail polishes from the same family, with the same finish. With ombré nails (every time I type the word ombré I think of hombre.....for men?) the colours usually go light to dark. With rainbow nails, there's no colour pattern. Just lash them on in any formation.
I picked the following four colours:
L-R: Essence Lost In You, Zoya Carey, Rimmel Salon Pro Oh, Mr. Darcy! and Essie Parka Perfect.
I gave each nail two coats of one of the colours, using the Rimmel shade on my thumb too.
I think it's a lovely way to look like you've made an effort without making any real effort - and it's a great way to transition from Summer to Autumn. Berry tones would look fantastic.
I think calling it "rainbow nails" is a bit of a stretch, but I do love the idea of using a few similar colours with the same finish. Mind you, the temptation to add a wallop of glitter was shocking.
Will you be giving this a go or do you prefer all your nails to match?
These colors look cute. You have soft baby fingers :). Next time try vibrant colors will look great on your nails.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite ever compliment (I think) :) I'm definitely going to try a dark berry one, thanks Ankita!
DeleteHa I love your early rainbow nails - impressively detailed!! My little girl makes me paint each of her nails a different colour so I can't see me following suit ("people think we're sisters!") :-)

Shocking, aren't they? I did those for a challenge and thought they were acceptable enough to enter, I feel weak when I look at them now, rotten!! Hahaha I can see how that wouldn't work for you but your little girl is SO ON TREND! xx
DeleteI totally love the idea! I do this sometimes when I'm swatching polishes to see what they're like and then the effort of having to take it off... So now I shall say "Eh shadappaya face, I'm doing the rainbow trend"!
ReplyDeleteYes! Now if only someone could come up with a trend where you have about eleventy billion different things swatched all up one arm, that'd save so much effort :)
Deletegreat nail art! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you x
DeleteYeah I love it, I also love the actual kitsch rainbow nails too / I know!

ReplyDeleteOh thanks Danielle but they're not my best effort, google rainbow nail art - there are some AMAZING ones!! xx
DeleteSkittle nails are fun, I can see how you were dying to slap some glitter on those though :P
ReplyDeleteThey were fun to wear but definitely, even one giant glitterbomb accent nail would have done :)
