The prompts for today were either Ways to incorporate colour into your look or Collecting.
My first instinct was to go for the collecting topic, because truth be told, I can be a little afraid of colour at times. I don't go near colour when it comes to makeup, I'm very much a brown eyeshadow/nudey lip person. I had a little think and decided to show you how I break up my everyday outfits with pops of colour - bear in mind I'm in no way proclaiming myself a fashion expert, I just had a lot of fun doing something I haven't really done before on here.
I went with an Autumn/Winter theme, because I absolutely adore all the dark, cosy clothes that are coming in to fashion. I love scarves, boots, jewel tones, hats, big bags, gloves - can't get enough.
I usually use shoes, bags, nail polish, vest tops and jewellery to incorporate colour into my wardrobe. I'm not a huge clothes person - if it's comfortable, I'll wear it. If it's black/grey/blue, I'll wear it. That's genuinely about the height of it. Here are 3 typical looks I'd wear during A/W, jazzed up to incorporate colour. All the details of the items featured in the collages are on my Polyvore account here.
1. Burgundy
I have a staple wardrobe diet of jeans, jumper, boots/flats. If I want to jazz it up, I'll take a coloured vest top, layer it under the jumper, match it with a necklace (this one is from Topshop and it must be mine), some nail polish (Essie Burgundies), and a bag.
2. Green
I used the same jeans again, this time with a long vest top and a green cardigan. I'd put a long pendant, small dangly earrings, and some green ballet flats with this outfit. Those ballet flats are McQ and are to die for, but I have a similar pair (non-studded) from Heatons. The polish is Butter London Swinger.
3. Orange
Again, it's the same idea - basic jeans, basic jumper, kick of colour with a bright vest underneath, bright ballet flats, bright nails, matching bag, and statement necklace.
I end up accumulating an ungodly number of vests, ballet flats, bags & necklaces (seriously - I own two pairs of jeans in the whole world and about forty vests), but I think they're all great ways to build up different looks when you're not really into spending massive amounts of money on clothes. Also, you can get really bright vest tops in Penneys or Dunnes for next to nothing.
I highly doubt you'll be seeing any more clothing related posts on here, but hope you enjoyed this one!
