I get what Catrice were trying to do here. I do. Petrol, Metropolitan, mash the two together. I hate the name, I think that first L is redundant, but until I get my dream job of being an official polish namer, there's nothing I can do about it. Petrolpolitan (ugh) is one of the newer colour additions to the Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer line. It has the new formula, the square brush (similar to the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure ones) and the raised Catrice logo on the lid.
The colour itself is a dark sea green with little flecks of green and blue in it. The flecks do transfer pretty well to the nail, which was nice to see, as I'd been let down by similar formulas before.
From far away the little particles aren't really as visible, but it's still a really pretty colour:
But once you get a little closer, they're visible. It's a really subtle way to do glitter and I like the formula a lot.
Here's a close-up look at the little flecks on the nail:
And again:
With regard to its lasting power, I did have very minor tipwear after the first day, as you can see from the close-up photos. I also had one chip, although that may have been my topcoat (I'm trying to use up an Essence top coat). Nothing major, and I did a hell of a lot of typing when I was wearing this mani, so maybe that accounts for such quick tipwear.
Altogether I love the colour, I'm glad I picked it up, and for €2.99 I can't really complain about it. I just wish Catrice would hurry up and make some more interesting polishes, because their limited edition ones have not been to my taste at all recently.
Ha love that you're impatient with Catrice:) Lovely colour on you!
ReplyDeleteI think they're missing a trick, all the lovely neons and milky glitters and textures they could have!! :)
DeleteI love the flecks but I agree, Catrice really need to start making some nicer colours. Everything has been a bit blah for ages. Same goes for Essence x
ReplyDeleteYes! Nothing has been "omg I NEED THAT" for a hell of a long time now from either brand :(
DeleteI love this! I agree about the name though!
ReplyDeleteIt's not the best ;-)
DeleteOoh, love the flecks. Kinda unexpected. It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteYeah I was happily surprised by the flecks, haven't seen one like that in a while x
DeleteI've been so disappointed with their LE offering as of late, they'd really want to get their self in gear! This is a pretty polish, that first L definitely not needed, I do love the subtle shimmer in it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty. I love the hidden shimmer/flakies.
