At the end of August, Jenni from Nails and Beyond had a massive nail polish blog sale. I hadn't planned on buying anything, but two polishes immediately jumped out at me and I knew I had to have them. Jenni was lovely to deal with and so reasonable with postage to Ireland, pop by her blog and see if she has anything left!
The two I knew I had to adopt were Hard Candy 'Hick' and Max Factor 'Fantasy Fire'.
I haven't seen a Hard Candy polish in YEARS. I've been smiling at it. Sitting here, grinning like a fool at a bottle of polish. I had a love/hate relationship with Fantasy Fire, I really wanted it and searched everywhere, but no joy. Then, I finally found it in a shop, swatched it on one finger (oops, sorry) and thought it looked watery and horrible and too expensive here. When I saw it online in other swatches after, I was kicking myself. Jenni had a couple of bottles for sale at the bargalicious price of 1.50, so I was hardly going to leave it there! I'll swatch it soon (it's on my right hand now) but for today I'm all about the Hard Candy.
I have no idea how old this polish is, but these bottles were released from 2001 onwards. The ones from the 1990s were in smaller square bottles. Regardless of how old it is, a good shake and it applied like an absolute dream.
Hick is an amazing loaded glitter blue/purple. It's not gritty, it dries quickly, and I am in love with it.
I have a feeling this could lead to a dangerous vintage polish-seeking mission....come back to me, Spectacular!
Oh wow, those bottles! I really like the "retro" look though. Great color on you! But I always love a shimmery blue.
ReplyDeleteI know, I loved the big bottles even more than the originals! x
DeleteGreat swatch! I have the Max Effect Graffiti polish and that amazing too!
ReplyDeleteI have an international giveaway on my blog, you have the chance to win a jewelry of your choice, feel free to look up for it if you like.
I only have this Max Factor one but it makes me want to try more! x
DeleteOoh, pretty, pretty! Just remembered how much I loved Hard Candy!
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about it too! x
DeleteI've never used Hard Candy polishes, so many brands I realise I haven't actually tried, for shame!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many brands out there though, I don't think it's possible to try them all! Shall make a good stab at it though haha x
DeleteOh that colour is so sweet! Love that it leans more to the blue side! I love blues hahaha! Great swatch btw!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love blues too, can't beat a good glittery blue :)x

ReplyDeleteIt really is & it lasted ages, still wearing it now :)
DeleteThat's a lovely colour! I got Fantasty Fire after seeing other swatches of it and like you, was dissapointed when I tried it myself...I think it looks at its best when put on top of another colour, so I'm going to try that soon :) x
ReplyDeleteI have to try it over something! Maybe black or blue :)xx
DeleteI still remember being excited about getting a hard candy nail varnish with a ring on the lid! Having
ReplyDeleteSeen your other hand I prefer fantasy fire but both are fab
The rings were so cute!!! I used to see them in Just 17 magazine & crave them haha :) x Fantasy Fire actually lasted with almost no wear on my dominant hand for 3 whole days!
DeleteOh that's such a pretty blue! I love it :) Love FF too, tried it over a few different shades & loved each one! Black is a definite winner, which reminds me, I need to blog about it! Lol!
