The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Liquid Lipsticks - Charming and Honest

Not Sponsored/No Samples

Hi!

Recently, Cloud 10 Beauty had two pretty decent sales within a few weeks of each other. The first one offered 15% off - I had wanted The Balm liquid lipstick in the mauve shade "Charming" for months, but it was always out of stock. However, on this occasion I struck gold! I bought it and was so happy with the quality that I took advantage of the 20% off sale a few weeks later and ordered another shade, "Honest", a coral colour.

Charming

This shade was definitely worth holding out for - I loved it the minute I tried it. It is a little darker on my Casper-like skin than it shows up on Google images, but I adore it. It's almost a bit 90s, and the staying power is unbelievable. So much so that you have to be careful when applying, this stuff won't move for ages after applying. It fares okay with eating or drinking, but would need to be topped up. It fades evenly and doesn't leave you with a mad looking ring around your lips like some other products. My favourite thing about it other than the shade is the smell - mint choc chip, anyone? It doesn't tingle on the lips, the smell is the only giveaway that it contains any kind of menthol. It's not overpowering.

Honest

I'm not mad about the colour of this on me. Hence the accidental look of mild disgust. I think it'd need a bit of tan or bronzer to work, it's not something I'm going to reach for very often in February. It's very vibrant and cheery, but again much more orange on me than it appears on others. The staying power is the same, the scent is the same, the formula is the same - I just didn't have the insta-love for this shade the way I did with the other one.

There are currently 8 shades available, the pinky-nude shade Committed is on my wish list for the next sale. The lipsticks are €16.50 each from Cloud 10.

  1. Nice review on these lip products. I'm more of a tinted balm person but these are pretty pigmented.

  2. Committed is the perfect pinky nude colour. Got it last week and had it on everyday since then. Definitely go for that

  3. Liquid mattes are definitely my favourites right now. I like putting a product on a forgetting about it for hours.
I actually really like the "honest" shade on you :)

  7. I am also Casper white skin. I bought charming thinking it would a perfect malve nude for me. I couldn't be more wrong. It is a gorgeous shade, but it looks dark on me too. I bought commited too, but I was afraid it would be too light on me. I was wrong again. Commited it the perfect nude with color for me. I think commited looks like charming on most Google images. Thanks to our fair skin - every shade seems to pop on us! Thanks for the swatches.
