My MAC Lipstick Collection - 11 Shades of Nude

Hi!

"They're similar, not the same". The mantra of a beauty product addict. This comes into play a lot with me and lipstick - I know what I like, and I tend to stick to it. If I'm shelling out the guts of €20 on a lippie, there's no point in buying a hot pink or orange because it will not be worn. So I buy 10 variations of nude instead. Logical, yes?

Recently, with the rise in popularity of the youngest Jenner sister, nude/mauve lipstick came back with one hell of a bang. I couldn't get my hands on a lot of these straight off - I sat and waited for them to come back into stock either on the Brown Thomas or House of Fraser websites. I love each and every one of them, but they are NOT THE SAME. They might look the same in the bullet:

....but on the lips, it's a different ball game. I swatched every single one for you, so you can see that I'm not completely crazy. I bought all these except for Shy Girl, which was a gift for my wedding from my lovely friend (and MUA that day) Karie.

Here's a look at each one individually (I am completely sick of my face after doing all these collages, not going near a mirror for the weekend).

I love them all - I've had no real issues with any of them. The mattes can be very drying on the lips but I've been using Nuxe Reve De Miel lip balm every night now for a couple of months and it seems to be doing the trick, no more flaky cat bum lips!

SEE? NOT THE SAME. Every one of these was a valid purchase.

Are there any more I need?

  2. I think I shall have to buy Viva Glam II and peach blossom. Such pretty shades. I also think I need Kinda Sexy, would make a lovely bridal shade. So technically it's for my kit which justifies buying more right hahaha

    1. Viva Glam II is gorgeous, definitely worth buying! I want Syrup now because of your post, it's not for a kit though......but it would bring my total to 12 which is an even number so that's a reason.....;)

    1. Every now and again I fall for a bright peach but I know I won't wear them so it's pointless x

  4. I only have one of these! I've never been one for nudes, but they're growing on me. I think you've turned me off Patisserie a bit, it's exactly the colour of my bare lips. Gonna try on some of the rest!

    1. Patisserie is nice, but if you're buying a lipstick you don't want your own lip colour! I wish I could carry off the bright ones like you though x

  7. Sharon you are gas and this post made me chuckle! Despite me not being a nude lip person, I own most of these! You've sold me on Twig and Peach Blossom though, they may be additions #49 and #50 to my MAC lippie collection! :) Out of all of them, I think Velvet Teddy looks stunning on you! x

  8. I'm the same when it comes to lipsticks except I buy 10 variations of red because I know if I buy a nude I won't wear it.

Twig has caught my eye though, so I might need to try that one!

    1. Twig is nice! I wish I could wear the reds and oranges, I think I've only ever tried one red lipstick that I liked and that was by Rockalily, now defunct!

  9. All of them are different! I haven't tried any MAC lipsticks, perhaps one day ;)

    1. Thank you Grace! Peach Blossom and Brave are both really nice. Hue is very, very sheer - I think it's down to the Glaze finish, I don't think I'd buy another Glaze x
