The TMI Tag

Hi!

I haven't done a tag in ages so seeing as this is doing the rounds at the moment, I said I'd give it a lash (Jack).

What are you wearing right now?

Black jeans from Tesco, black cardigan from Dunnes, studded flats from Penneys, an eBay necklace [link] and a grey t-shirt from Redbubble [link] with a picture of David Hasselhoff on it that says "99 Problems But a Mitch Ain't One".

Ever been in love?
Yes, I have and am.

Ever had a terrible break up?
I've had one or two that stung at the time but looking back they weren't terrible!

How tall are you?
5 foot 6. That's the same height as Megan Fox, Meryl Streep, Beyonce, and Daniel Radcliffe.

How much do you weigh?
Enough to think that lettuce now constitutes a very valid part of a meal.

Any tattoos?
No. If I've told you I have, I lied to sound cool. I'm a shite, I went with my friend G to get a tattoo and after I saw her face during it I got my nose pierced instead.

Any piercings?
Just multiple ear piercings (upper and lower), used to have nose done too.

OTP?
*Googles furiously* Ahh.... Bangel, especially in Season 2.

Favourite Show?
Buffy, without hesitation or doubt. Nothing will ever come close.

Favourite Bands?
I think there are loads of really good Irish bands on the scene at the moment - Kodaline, Little Green Cars, Villagers - but my heart lies with the hair bands of the 80s. Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi - if there's hair and leather, I'm on it.

Something you miss?
Being able to play GTA Vice City all night. And sleep. I really miss sleep.

Favourite Song?
Don Henley - Boys of Summer or The Waterboys - Fisherman's Blues. I can never choose between the two.

How old are you?
I'll be 31 in June. I'm exactly 9 days older than Cheryl Cole. We were both born in 1983 - the number one song on the day I was born was "Every Breath you Take" by The Police, and "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye was a NEW song that year. The film that won the Oscar for Best Picture was "Terms of Endearment". That's how old I am.

Zodiac sign?
Gemini.

Quality you look for in a partner?
I look for the same in a partner as I do in a dog - loyalty, trust and honesty. All three are easy to find but not as easy to maintain and I think it takes a lot of work to keep things running, complacency is the ruination of relationships. That went quite deep there, didn't it?

Favourite quote?
"To Thine Own Self Be True". Or any of the other 4,000(exaggeration) Hamlet quotes I regularly throw about the place on a daily basis.

Favourite actor?
For the eyes - Gerard Butler. For the memories - 80s Mel Gibson. For the actual acting ability - Colm Meaney or Brendan Gleeson. If either of them are in something, I'll watch it. Actually that's not true. I just said that because everyone's still talking about them after the IFTAS. I like Will Ferrell.

Favourite colour?
I say it's purple all the time but in fairness I don't even naturally gravitate towards purple at all so probably, predictable old black. I loved my 9 year old's response to this question - "lime green. Bright lime green, not a dull one. Like my shoelaces, not an apple sweet. PROPER lime green that you could see if you were in a hot air balloon".

Loud music or soft?
Oh god, loud. Definitely. It's a wonder I'm not deaf, I spent the 90s with ear buds in.

Where do you go when you're sad?
Into my head and it takes a nice little while to get back out again.

How long does it take you to shower?
About 5 minutes. Unless someone is watching the babies so I can have a shower, then I take alllllll the time I can get. I promise I don't ever sit on the lid of the toilet with my eyes closed......

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Half an hour if I'm out for the day. 2 minutes if I'm not.

Ever been in a physical fight?
I've always been more of a mouthpiece should the need for a fight arise. I'd shit myself before I'd hit someone.

Turn on?
Nice smells - aftershave, shower gel, etc. I'm a big scent lover.

Turn off?
Dirty nails. Or misogyny, that'll do it too.

The reason you started blogging?
A healthy mix of boredom, a love of waffling, and a way to keep all my waffling in one place and preserved forreevvvverrrr.

Fears?
Something happening to my husband or one of my children.

Last thing that made you cry?
I cry at everything. I teared up today watching a Dad give a wedding speech on "Four Weddings". I properly cried when I heard about Peaches Geldof's untimely death - I followed her posts on instagram and twitter and saw how devoted she was to those little boys - now they'll grow up without her. The thought of them looking for their Mam over the next little while is just beyond heartbreaking. I know that it's not "my grief" and this kind of news can send social media into overdrive, but I couldn't help but think of my little boys when I heard it. Awful.

Last time you said you loved someone?
About five minutes ago when I went in to get something from the sitting room, I said it to my oldest son.

Meaning behind your blog name?
I have green eyes, I was singing Behind These Hazel Eyes at the time, so I mixed the two. I actually wish I'd put a bit more thought into it, but I'll not be changing it.

Last book you read?
I finished "The Memory Child" by Steena Holmes. I think if you've read "Before I Go To Sleep" by SJ Watson, you'd enjoy it. I bought it on a daily deal recommendation on Amazon, it's about a couple who have amazing careers, and have always planned to start a family. The woman finds out she's pregnant, the husband is overjoyed - so why has he gone on a business trip and not returned to see his wife and daughter? And is the Nanny hiding something? Is she in touch with the husband? Why has the strong, independent working woman now a paranoid, worried shell of her former self? Is it post natal depression, post partum psychosis or is there something stranger at work? Alternate chapters are from the husband's/wife's point of view, and go between the past and the present. It's very much a psychological type thriller, even though I copped a part of the ending fairly early on, the actual ending was a bit of a heartbreaker. It was a quick read, so I'd recommend it.

The book you're currently reading?
After I saw Rio Hogarty on the Late Late Show last Friday night I downloaded her book "A Heart So Big" from Amazon. She's an amazing woman, having fostered 140 children over the past few decades. She's a true Dublin character, and her book is a brilliant read.

Last show you watched?
I watched a lot of TLC today - fairly rubbish stuff, including Toddlers & Tiaras, Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings, and Something Borrowed, Something New. I feel like I need to go and watch Oireachtas Report now and discuss the stock market in my telephone voice while sipping a brandy and using a fake laugh.

Last person you talked to?
My eldest son, doing the whole "no, you can't stay up until 9pm" "but my favourite show is on" "it's a school night" "but I'll MISS ITTTT" routine.

The relationship between you and the person you last texted?
My sister.

Favourite food?
Mexican - give it all to me. If someone could find a way to make nachos, enchiladas, quesadillas, tortillas, fajitas, burritos and tacos (and cheese) calorie-free I would chow down all day. Seriously. Tortilla chips in the airfryer for a few minutes with some grated cheddar on top..........foodgasm.

Place you want to visit?
Iceland, to see the Northern Lights and sleep in a log cabin. I think if I talk about it as much in the next 11 years as I have in the past 11, my husband will eventually just pass me a Parka and stick me on a plane to Reykjavik.

Last place you were?
The toilet.

Do you have a crush?
I have a crush-ER. I am finally in possession of a garlic crusher after lusting after one for about 6 years. I love it, it makes me feel powerful. And garlicky.

Last time you kissed someone?
Today. Don't worry, it was my husband. I am always kissing the babies though. I'm not sure if they like it.

Last time you were insulted?
Probably today too, but I could care less what people say or think behind my back, I'm too old for that shit.

Favourite flavour of sweet?
I'm not a huge sweet person to be honest. I like jelly beans and cola bottles, but I could take or leave them.

What instrument do you play?
I used to play the piano accordion but I haven't seen it around in years so presumably it has returned to its home at the bottom of the seventh level of hell. I have a guitar but I can't play it.

Favourite piece of jewellery?
I have no loyalty to jewellery at all. I love my wedding ring and engagement ring obviously, but they're not a big massively expensive set or anything, I wouldn't be able to breathe if I had to walk around every day wearing a couple of grand's worth of gold on my finger. I much prefer gaudy, bright, cheap and cheerful things that I wear to death and then get sick of.

Last sport you played?
Em.....

Last song you sang?
What the hell was it...........Timber by Pitbull and Kesha. One day I will NAIL that "woah-oh-oh-oh" bit in the chorus. One day.

Favourite chat up line?
"Your eyes are like spanners. When I look into them, my nuts tighten."

Have you ever used it?
Can't, due to a lack of nuts.

Last time you hung out with anyone?
I visited a friend with my husband and all the kids in tow on Sunday and it was lovely, not least of all because she cooked a lovely dinner and it was just bloody epic not to have to do that.

Who should answer these questions next?
Whoever wants to!
