#SBBC Day 5 - Recipe

Hi!

Day 5 of the #SBBC (click the graphic on the sidebar to see the other posts so far) called for either a Recipe, or Makeup Remover Faves/Fails.

I don't really have much experience with makeup removers, (I know that the L'oreal ones burn the eyes out of me) - I haven't tried any of the cleansing waters or whatever they're called. I don't like putting stuff near my eyes at all since I got vinegar in my eyes a couple of years ago (don't ask) - sweet jesus, the pain! I've been using the Ali Mac cleansing melt as a remover or using wipes when I'm not in the humour for the whole routine.

Anyway, on to something I know a bit more about - pie. Or, to be specific, chicken & mushroom pie. I get a craving for this every so often, and it's my go-to Autumn/Winter Warmer dish. You can also make this with stewing beef or mince.

I'm too lazy and bad at pastry to make it from scratch, so I buy the jus-rol stuff from Tesco and defrost it a few hours before I need it (aka take it out and throw it on the counter). To make my heartwarming chicken & mushroom pie, you'll need:

  • 2-3 chicken fillets.
  • Can of chicken soup.
  • One sheet of Jus-Rol Shortcrust Pastry (defrosted).
  • Potatoes, Mushrooms, Onions (or whatever veg you like).
Firstly, I cut some potatoes into cubes and par-boil them. Then I put the chicken & veg into a wok, and when cooked, I add the potatoes for a few minutes.

Next, I add the can of chicken soup and simmer it for 5 minutes. Then I put the mixture into a casserole dish.

I roll the sheet of pastry out, then put it across the top of the dish, folding the sides in as I go.

Brush with some milk or beaten egg, then put it into the oven at gas mark 5 (190c/375f) for a half an hour or until pastry is browned. Then serve!

I like loads of pepper on mine as you can see - but it's really delicious. It's such a comforting meal and it's one I'll be making a lot over the winter.

Mmmmm, pie........

I'm currently hosting a giveaway to win a generous supply of the new face wipes from Water Wipes - click the Water Wipes graphic in the sidebar for details on how to enter.

    1. It's really easy, honest, just throw everything into a pot and bake it! I wouldn't make it every week or I'd be 30 stone but it's yummy when the weather is cold xx
