#SBBC Day 3 - Travel Essentials

Hi!

It's Day 3 of the #SBBC, you can click the link on the sidebar for more information about it.

Today's prompts were Travel Essentials or A Sentimental Item. Considering I attach sentimentality to pieces of paper, it would have taken me an absolute eternity to come up with one thing in particular. So instead, I decided to go with the Travel Essentials one and show you what I take when I'm going away - or what I would take if I ever went away.

At this point in time I'd say the world is sick of me going on about being pregnant, but I recently packed my hospital bag and tried to cram in as many essentials as I could without bringing the kitchen sink with me. I'm the type of person that has the big handbag with everything in it from scissors to plasters to tablets to chargers, so you can imagine that this was a bit of a challenge for me. I don't like taking my best things away with me, because I've lost stuff in hotels or B&Bs before, so I try to find a happy medium and bring things I know I like, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if I lost.

Firstly, I have a small plastic bag that contains a hairbrush, toothbrush, La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, and deodorant in. I'm taking the Sure Women Maximum Protection that I raved about a while ago, because the stuff is literally the best deodorant I've ever used and at this stage I'd be lost without it. I take the Cicaplast literally everywhere, it's magic for so many different things. I also have a pack of water wipes packed.

Next, I have a small washbag/makeup bag. This bag is the one I personalised on cowcow.com during the summer - you can read the post on that here.

Despite being smaller than an A5 notebook, it holds a deceptively huge amount of stuff. Have a peek inside:

Before anyone thinks I'm up my own arse for worrying about what I look like when I'm in hospital, yes, I always bring makeup with me during hospital stays. When I'm feeling utterly shite, makeup is the one thing that makes me feel a little bit human again. Here's what I have in this bag:

Basic makeup. I don't like bringing any of my all-time favourites away in case I lose them, so I've the Catrice BB cream, Essence Maximum Length mascara, Lacura Concealer, Revlon Matte eyeshadow, some Real Techniques brushes (for my face & eyebrows) and the Khloe Kardazzle palette from Kardashian Beauty which is handy for eyeshadow, eyebrow powder, blush, and highlighter.

Travel size toiletries. I got the Aussie & Simple in Dealz, the face wash free with Glamour magazine, the Mario Badescu soap with a beautybay order, and the shower gel from a very, very kind and lovely twitter friend (along with the toothpaste in the picture below and some other miniature toiletries).

Also in there (yes - everything in those three pictures is in that wee bag) is a miniature hand cream (from another lovely friend), some LRP/Vichy moisturising stuff, my Holy Grail Vichy Aqualia Thermal lip balm, satin tape (can't use floss, my teeth are too close together), some cotton pads, cotton buds, and snag-free hair ties.

Have I forgotten anything? ;-)

I'm currently hosting a giveaway to win a generous supply of the new face wipes from Water Wipes - click the Water Wipes graphic in the sidebar for details on how to enter.
