#SBBC Day 11 - Biggest Beauty Fails

Hi!

It's my son's 9th birthday today so I'll keep this one short - firstly, I got my blog name because I was going through a Kelly Clarkson phase and listened to her album Breakaway nearly every day - Behind These Hazel Eyes was my go-to karaoke song, so I wanted to call my blog Behind These Green Eyes because I don't have hazel eyes, but I can't remember if it was taken, I didn't like it, or whatever, but I settled for Behind Green Eyes.

On to my biggest beauty fails - the time I mistook a purple eyeliner for a brown one and went to Tesco with bright electric lilac eyebrows is right up there, as is the time I was practicing Halloween looks and had to answer the door to a courier with a bright blue face.....

.....and the time I did this to my nails:

I have no idea what I was trying to achieve there. It may have been saran wrap, or straws, or spray marbling - not a clue. Whatever it is, it's gross. And that was AFTER cleanup. It's like a psychedelic swamp.

Blue faces and swamp nails aside, I think my all-time biggest beauty fail was my entire Fairuza Balk tribute act period circa 2000, when I decided to chop all my hair off and dress like a reject from The Craft for about two years. I like to call this my Grim Reaper picture. In the negatives (remember when photos had negatives?), I looked like I was about to carry the two poor tanned Americans off to the Underworld.

  1. Tried not to laugh, laughed loads. I had a similar goth period. Nobody needs to see pictures of that.

    1. Haha I love her too, was obsessed with her for ages, bought chokers, long dresses - basically anything with a pentagram on it. Never realised how daft I looked until years after, I nearly wish I hadn't been as camera shy, some of the outfits.......jesus!!

  3. Bwhahaha I lolled the whole way through this post, you poor thing with your purple eyebrows! You never know, they could be Autumn/Winter 2014

And you were really rocking the pale visage eh??! Ah sure that's part of the fun of growing up, looking back at photos! I used to rock shimmery pale blue eyeshadow from lash to eyebrow. Oh yes, the late 90s was a good time pour moi ;P

  8. Awh you look so adorable in the last pic! I used to be a bit of a "goff" back in the day too. Oh how I wanted to be Wednesday Adams - pigtails and all! I still do have a bit of a penchant for dark, smokey and vampy shades. Once a goth, always a goth! ;)

    1. I think a bit of goth ALWAYS remains!! I still can't resist anything with leather or studs, I just don't take it quite as far as I used to! x

    1. I have no idea Kate, I can't even remember doing it, I hate water marbling - have a feeling it may have had something to do with straws?! It was awful! x
