#SBBC Day 1 - Introduction & Recent Purchases

Hi!

Welcome to the #SBBC - or September Beauty Blog Challenge. This challenge is the brainchild of the lovely Girl Friday, who had such success with her June Blog Challenge that she decided to run another one for the month of September. She has very cleverly designed two lists of topics - one list of beauty/fashion topics, and one list of more lifestyle oriented ones. You can mix & match, stick to just one list, or dip in and out. Have fun with it!

You can display this image on your blog or site if you're taking part, and we'll be sharing our posts daily on twitter using the #SBBC tag, so make sure and check it out to see what the other participants are posting.

For today's topic, we can choose from either Recent Purchases or an Introduction to the challenge. I did a recent beauty buys post a while ago and to be honest I haven't bought that much for myself in the line of beauty since, but I have picked up a few little bits here & there, so I thought I'd show you those.

I got the Yankee tart purely because of the name (November Rain, howya Slash solo), I got the two Catrice polishes (Miami Pink & Mermaid my Day) because I saw them matted on another blog & thought they were lovely. I also picked up a small bottle of the Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier which I really shouldn't have, because it was pricey (€17.50) but a little goes a long way and I missed wearing it after my sample ran out. I got two Catrice eyeshadows (not pictured) from old limited editions half price, and this Infinite Matt foundation half price - I was delighted to see that because I'd used mine up.

I picked up O.P.I Alcatraz...Rocks!! from their recent San Francisco collection. This was under €10 on eBay.

I got this cute A5 notebook in Dealz for €1.49, I thought the design was really cute and I can't resist a notebook.

I got the DVDs for a euro apiece at the outdoor markets - I know some people are wary about buying DVDs or CDs second hand but I always check for scratches, all 3 work perfectly.

This Ghost book was also from the market, I think it was €2. It's a massive hardback book and it caught my eye straight away, I haven't read it yet.

I got this New Look satchel from asos with my voucher from ao.com after I hosted the giveaway that ended last week - I'm really happy with it and it will see me through the winter. It cost £19.99.

These nail wheels are from eBay. They come in packs of 10 wheels for just over €1.50 with free postage. I got three sets, that's 30 wheels, for just under a fiver. You can get them here.

Lastly, I got the mother of all bargains from the outdoor markets:

This Warehouse dress was brand new, with tags still on. It's a bodycon v-neck dress in a more aubergine colour than it appears here. It's extremely flattering on my bump, and it's super comfy. It was €52 on the tag.........I paid €4. Result!!

You can join in with the #SBBC at any time, and you'll find all the details and topic lists on Girl Friday's blog post about it here. I'm sure you don't have to have a beauty blog either, you can adapt the posts to suit your own style and still join in.

I'm currently hosting a giveaway to win a generous supply of the new face wipes from Water Wipes - click the Water Wipes graphic in the sidebar for details on how to enter.

    1. Thanks Sera! I think this particular foundation may be discontinued & that's why it was reduced, but they do have a new line out called "All Matt Plus" which seems to be the same line, same shade names & all.

    1. Thanks Colette! I find it one of my favourites, I'm prone to dry enough skin on my face and this doesn't dry me up at all, it blends well and it lasts ages. As I mentioned in a reply above I think that particular line could be discontinued but their new Matt Plus looks exactly the same, down to the shade names. It's definitely worth a try, even at full price it's just over €6 x

  10. The OPI Alcatraz looks lovely, I love textured polish! & the yankee tart sounds nice.. I always buy candles online, without knowing the smell, & they're usually good! It makes me think of sitting inside at the fire when it's raining haha x

    1. I didn't think I'd like the textured polish at all but it's lovely, not too lumpy or gritty at all! Haha I do that too, I went on a tart spree the last time the yankee site had a sale, every one I took out of the box was a surprise!!

    1. Ahhh great minds!! I love those little notebooks, must get some more. I really do like the foundation, it doesn't dry my skin out and it gives good coverage without looking caked. Lasts ages too. It's a teeny tiny bit dark for me but it's grand when it's blended in! x

  14. That OPI polish looks gorgeous! Is it as nice on the nail as it is in the bottle? Also love that satchel for new look - I'm such a sucker for anything black with studs! :P
