Review: Hask Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Treatment

Hi!

If there's one thing I can be sure of when it's hot, it's that my hair will grow bigger by the hour. Any kind of humidity and I'm giving Monica Geller in Barbados a run for her money. I washed, dried and straightened my hair on Wednesday, and by yesterday it was fuzzing up and had lost all signs of being tamed:

In general it just felt heavy, dry, and looked really dull. I spotted the Hask Argan Oil Deep Conditioning Treatment in my local chemist a while back for €2.99, and I thought this would be an ideal time to give it a go.

There's a really generous 50g of product in the sachet, and it's a thick cream that applies well. You'd only need one sachet even if you have quite long hair. I probably could have gotten away with using half the sachet on mine. The instructions say to wet your hair, apply the cream, then leave for 10 minutes before rinsing out. I left it in for about 25 minutes, because I genuinely forgot to time it. When you rinse it out, style as normal. After I rinsed it, I immediately found my hair easier to brush. I blow-dried my hair straight and then left it for an hour before taking pictures to show you how it helped.

As you can see, even after an hour, and even with the humidity, there's a huge difference. Now it's not a miracle worker, Inevitably I'm still going to get some frizzing because that's just the type of hair I have, but it definitely made my hair softer and more manageable. I wasn't overly in love with the smell either, but it's fairly inoffensive compared to some overly fruity treatments. I won some hairtrade clip-in extensions recently over on Sera's blog and I hadn't been able to use them yet because my hair was so frizzy. I popped them in yesterday evening and they blended in fairly well - I have a tiny bit of frizzing around the outside but nothing compared to the halo of hair I usually have. A small bit of my own hair oil sorted it.

By today, I was still relatively frizz-free and was able to use the extensions again, no way would I have gotten two days out of a blow dry in this heat without the treatment.

Yes, I wear black in the sun.

Anyway, it's definitely a really good product and one I'll be repurchasing. I think you can find Hask products in Penneys but I'm not 100% sure which ones - my local one is a disaster for stock. I know there are a whole range of treatments and oils but this is the only one my chemist had. I've used some of the oils from Penneys before and they're also really good, but this was seriously impressive.

    1. The only thing I've ever found in Penneys is the hot oil placenta one, and the little brown oil but I haven't seen them in ages - can't find the Macadamia ones anywhere, was delighted to see this hiding away in the chemist! x

  2. I've seen this in Primark, not sure if Penneys have different stock or not. I was tempted but as it was Primark I gave it a miss. Seeing the results on you makes me want to pick one up. Although my hair, if I straighten it stays straight until I wash it, still can't hurt my dry ends!

    1. Penneys seem to vary from branch to branch, I think by the time it gets to me there's no decent stuff left! It definitely made a difference to the dryness, it's really good.

  7. wow, you look so young and just adorable! :)
This seems like a really neat product (no Penneys/Primark for me around here, shame); I'll have a look around anyway and see if I can find anything similar to treat my poor hair with.

    1. Aw thank you, definitely not young! It's a shame that you don't have a Penneys but I did get this in a chemist so maybe you'll be able to find something similar, I'm sure there are other Argan oil conditioners around, I hope you find one!x

  8. Wow, actually seeing the immediate results really sells this. I suffer the same in the sun, where my normally straight hair goes insane and frizzy no matter what I do with it, and since I've gotten it ombre'd, it's drier and worse than ever. I always pass these by in Penneys assuming they're useless, but your hair looks amazing, and so silky!

    1. Thanks Aoife, it really did make a huge difference. Even today my hair still feels really soft and it's not bushy yet, which it normally would be by now! The sun is so harsh on hair x

  9. Wow, your hair is so long! Can definitely see the results there, I must get something like this as my hair is suffering in this weather. Not to mention the fact that Monday to Thursday I was out in the sun and in the sea!

    1. The last two pictures are with the clip-ins, my hair is just past my shoulders, it's taking bloody ages to grow after getting it cut last November, I've had really long hair for years and I miss it! It really did help a good bit, I'm going to start using my conditioning treatments once a week again just to stop it drying up so much again.
