Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge Day 5: Nude

Hi!

It's Day 5 of the Makeup Savvy 15-Day Nail Challenge (all details HERE), and today calls for Nude nails.

I'm not a huge fan of traditional nude shades. I don't own too many, I just find that they don't suit me and most are too opaque for my liking. I also find nudes a little boring on their own - I know it's down to personal choice, but when my nails are nude I feel like I'm not wearing any polish, it just feels weird to me. I've seen nude polish that looks really nice on other people, but an all-over nude nail is not for me.

For today, I decided to try something I've been wanting to try for ages - a jelly sandwich.

I used O.P.I 'Care To Danse?' as a base, Essence Special Effects Nail Art Topper in 'Disco Disco' as the middle, then O.P.I again as the top coat. Altogether I think I must have used about 6 coats of the O.P.I, it's such a sheer jelly. It's a hard colour to describe - it looks like a very pale lavender shade in the bottle, but it definitely leans towards pink on the nail.

'Disco Disco' is one of my favourite Essence toppers, the square glitters catch the light beautifully. Here's a close-up of the bottle:

I started off with my usual Essence base coat, applied three coats of the O.P.I, one coat of Essence, then another three coats of O.P.I until I had completely covered the holo effect of the glitter.

I have to say, I think I'm a jelly sandwich convert after this. I really love the effect and I'm definitely going to play around with more colour combinations.

Have a great Sunday!

S xx

  1. hmmmmmm this is very pretty! Wonder is "sammiching" the glitter between jelly would help with removal...
