Makeup Savvy 15 Day Nail Challenge Day 12: Stripes

Hi!

Right, firstly, I'm so glad I got my photos up early yesterday, because there was a nail casualty. The whole gruesome story goes like this: I was helping himself load bags of turf, and we were using a quad bike and small trailer to carry the bags over to the tractor and big trailer. I was trying to get the trailer off the quad so that he could reverse properly, and my little finger got caught. Queue me ROARING, him nearly having a heart attack, and me afraid to take my glove off in case there was blood everywhere. Thankfully there was no blood, but my little nail was just banjaxed.

I have had a c-section, a shattered ankle, a broken tooth, a broken wrist and many sprains, but the pain of a nail ripping that far down is just insane, my heart was in my little finger for most of the day. It's still sore today! Do you want to see the damage? It's not too gross, I promise.

Needless to say, my first thought (after 'OMFG is my nail still there') was of nail polish. Typical for this to happen on the home stretch of a challenge! But fear not, I'm not going to let this stop me finishing the challenge, I'm just going to give my little finger some time off. I was going to try an acrylic but in all honesty, it's too sore so I'm just leaving it alone to recover.

So, now that I've made you all feel physically sick, on to Day 12: Stripes. Here are the polishes I used:

L-R: Catrice 'The Pinky and The Brain', Essence Snow White TE 'Grumpy',
Rio Nail Art Gold from Metallics set.

Yeah, I bought Grumpy again. He was the only one left in the shop and my freak nail polish side screamed at me to buy him before someone else did. Still, you can never have too many blues! The Catrice one is another in the ever-growing list of stuff I buy for the name. I should do an entire post on that sometime, because there are SO many. I'm an eejit. But, in fairness, how could you not want a polish named after one of the best cartoons ever?

I ramble. Anyway, here's the look. On three fingers and a thumb.

Overall, I like it. I really like how the Rio kinda looks like little studs, and I'm continuing to use the peel-off stickers I mentioned in my Neon Day post because A) they actually work, and B) the striping tape still hasn't arrived. I used the pink all over and then Grumpy for the stripes.

I'll leave you with this, it's probably stuck in your head now anyway!

All info about the nail challenge is HERE, it's still not too late to join and you don't have to be a blogger.

  1. Oh I feel your pain on your nail injury, I slammed my thumb in a taxi door not too long ago and cracked my nail right across the bottom by the cuticle. I have never known pain like it! I almost passed out and oh the blood, it was a gruesome sight! My first thoughts after the pain started to subside were that I had 4 of the China Glaze Summer Neons that I had yet to try out lol. It's Still not looking too attractive now but luckily it was my left hand so not too tragic on the blog photograph front!

Love the stripes! So neat and the little dots really do look like studs at first glance! Gorgeous! x

    1. Thanks Claire! I find the peel-off stickers far easier than striping tape, they're more tacky :)

  7. The pain of a broken nail is worse than a kick in the balls. I don't care what any lad says.
