31 Day Nail Polish Challenge: Day 1

Source: nysportskvetch.com

See that up there? That's the bandwagon - consider me on it.

For the last few months, I've been looking at loads of gorgeous nail polish blogs like www.letthemhavepolish.com and www.sunshinerose12.blogspot.com and been in total awe of their work for the 31-day Nail Polish Challenge that's going round. So, being the polish whore enthusiast that I am, I decided that I'm going to do this challenge for 3 reasons:

  1. I paint my nails almost every day anyway.
  2. I have SO many polishes in my stash that I've never used.
  3. I need something to keep reminding me to post and check all the fab blogs I follow on blogger!
If you haven't heard of the challenge, here are the rules for every day - I got this image from Google Images, it seems to be the standard one on most nail blogs, but I can't find a source - if it's yours, let me know.

Sounds fun, right? I realised how bad I've been to some of my nail polishes when I was searching for a red polish for the first challenge - I bought GOSH 'Lambada' a few years ago on a whim and never used it. The poor sucker's gone all gloopy now, so if anyone can suggest a brand of thinner or some other way to rescue the poor baby, let me know because it really is a gorgeous red - see below.

I was going to make a separate post for the first challenge, but there really wasn't any point, so here it is. I didn't really have that much to choose from for this one, because I'm not really a fan of red polishes in general (the above being the exception) - my colouring is all wrong for them, I find that cooler shades suit me better. The one I chose was an old Rimmel one that I've had since God was a boy (which hasn't gone gloopy AT ALL, surprisingly) - it's Rimmel Lasting Finish in Exotica. Mine's the old bottle, not even the "I love" version - that'll tell you how long I've had it. It's a lovely shiny red with a subtle gold shimmer. I used two coats.

Outside, no flash
Left - Outside, no flash. Right - Inside, with flash.
As you can see, it really comes to life when the flash hits it - it's gorgeous, and I'm really glad that I got the opportunity to use it, because I probably would never have bothered. Tomorrow is an Orange day - that'll be a tough decision alright, seeing as I only have one orange polish...

Until tomorrow!
